Standing proudly on Thetford’s main street since the 1400s, The Bell Hotel is one of Norfolk’s oldest and most historic coaching inns. Over six centuries it has welcomed royalty, travelers, merchants, and strangers — and many believe some guests have never truly checked out.

Originally built in the 15th century, parts of the hotel date back to around 1493. It has seen royal visits, civil war turmoil, highwaymen, and centuries of human story within its thick timber-framed walls. Today it operates as a thriving hotel — yet reports of lingering presences refuse to fade.
